CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE Best & Worst Jobs 12-07-11
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
According to the job search aggregator Indeed.com, the toughest metro area to find a job in the nation is Miami. However and unfortunately, California and Florida metro areas own this list. Again, unfortunately, this year’s list has not seen much in the way of changes over the 2010 list, [see 10-13-10 Minute, West for Jobs Markets 2010 under 4thQtr10 in main Menu (orange colored bar)].
To add credence to the list, a year ago, Forbes.com ran a story utilizing another listing aggregator Juju.com. Las Vegas ranked first on the list followed by Miami and Riverside. Similarly, the list from Juju.com for 2011 is similar to that of the one presented by Indeed.com.
On the flip side, Indeed.com also ranked the metro areas with the strongest jobs picture. San Jose was ranked first, followed by Washington DC and New York. Similarly, Juju compiled a similar ranking See 12-08-10 Minute, Best for jobs. The ranking had Washington DC, then San Jose followed by New York.
WORST PLACES FOR JOBS 2011 1. Miami, FL 2. Los Angeles 3. Riverside 4. Las Vegas, NV 5. Detroit, MI 6. Sacramento 7. Memphis, TN 8. Rochester, NY 9. St. Louis, MO 10. Orlando, FL
It appears that the trends of best and worst are well document. You be the judge.
I am Tim Johnson and this has been the California Business Minute.
