Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
One city from California make this year’s Forbes magazine’s annual list of the nation’s Top Ten Most Dangerous Cities.
Forbes used the FBI’s crime report for 2010 examining Metropolitan Statistical Areas with a population of 200,000 or more. In addition they used the FBI’s numbers from four categories of violent crime; murder, non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault.
TOP TEN MOST DANGEROUS CITIES IN THE NATION
1. Detroit 1,111 violent crimes per 100,000 2. Memphis 1,006 3. Springfield, IL 855 4. Flint, MI 827 5. Anchorage 813 6. Lubbock 808 7. Stockton 805 8. Tallahassee 775 9. Las Vegas 763 10. Rockford, IL 760
Two previous rankings, one by US & World Report, see 04-01-11 Minute did not have one city from the Golden State on the list. However, a ranking by the online publication 24/7 Wall Street, see 08-08-11 Minute had Stockton and Oakland on the list.
