Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.

CNN/Money released their list of the Best Counties with the Best Job Growth in the
Nation from 2000-2010

Those listed within the top ten are typically small rural communities or ex-burbs
that have both seen some growth that because of their size, any small increase due
to an opening of a ‘Big Box’ store(s) has caused significant increase.   However,
this year, counties with deeper tech populations have been listed such as Loudoun
County, Virginia, known as the “Silicon Valley of the East.”   So while the growth
sounds significant, it really is a percentage versus aggregate numbers game.

This year’s list has only three on it from last year; Rockwell, Loudoun and Douglas.

TOP TEN COUNTIES WITH BEST JOB GROWTH 2000-2010

1. Rockwell County, Texas, a spillover from Dallas                                         97.9%
2. Loudoun, County, Virginia, outside of Washington DC                                 75.3%
3. Williamson County, Texas, southwest of Dallas-Ft. Worth                           68.1%
4. Douglas County, Colorado, midway between Denver and Colorado Springs   64.5%
5. Hamilton County, IN, north of Indianapolis                                                  50.8%
6. Delaware County, OH                                                                               49.2%
7. Desoto, MI                                                                                              48.2%
8. Utah County, UT near Provo                                                                      47.1%
9. Ascension Parish, LA                                                                               46.6%
10. Campbell County, WY includes Gillette                                                     43.9%
