Californians witnessed a major slide in the Dow and other stock activity this week.
The Dow dropped 634 points on Monday, August 8, but it’s not the worst single –day
point loss in the industrial index’s history. Here are the Top Ten:
1. September 29, 2008 drops 778 points or 7 percent
2. October 15, 2008 drops 733 points or 7.9 percent
3. September 17, 2001 drops 685 points or 7.1 percent
4. December 1, 2008, drops 680 points or 7.7 percent
5. October 9, 2008, ,drops 679 points or 7.3 percent
6. August 8, 2011 drops 634 or 5.5 percent
7. April 14, 2000 drops 618 or 5.7 percent
8. October 27, 1997 drops 554 points or 7.2 percent
9. October 22, 2008, drops 514 points or 5.7 percent
10. August 4, 2011, drops 513 points or 6.4 percent
