Highest Crime Risk

Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Although crime has been on the downside trend, it is still a significant issue to be addressed
by economic developers.
An analysis of FBI data completed for US News and World Report shows which cities in the United
States have the highest overall incidence of crime, relative to the national rate.
The data includes property crime, such as burglary and motor vehicle theft, as well as violent
crime, like murder and robbery. An index score of 100 is equal to the national crime rate, meaning
that the highest ranked city – St. Louis with an index of 530, has a crime rate more than five
times the national average. Of interest, not one California city is on the list.
