Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
Florida, the Sunshine State appears to be dimming based upon another ranking
of the most stressed cities in the nation. This new ranking was completed by
Sperling’s Best Place’s for CNBC.com.
Sperling’s examined 50 of the largest metro areas in the nation. The examination
considered divorce rates, commute times, unemployment violent crime, property
crime, suicides, alcohol consumption, mental health, sleep troubles and weather.
Unfortunately, the list also has two California cities on the Top Ten list.
TOP TEN MOST STRESSFUL CITIES IN THE NATION 2012
1.Tampa Bay-St. Petersburg, FL
2.Las Vegas
3.Miami, Florida
4.Jacksonville, FL
5.Detroit, MI
6.Orlando, FL
7.Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario
8.Sacramento-Roseville
9.Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA
10.West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL
Forbes.com which also does an annual ranking of the Most Stressful Cities in the
Nation analyzing the 40 largest cities, had no Florida cities in its 2011 Top
Ten ranking yet had three California cities, Los Angeles #1, San Diego #5 and
San Francisco #7. Of interest, Riverside was ranked #14 and Sacramento #15.
