Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
According to a study of entrepreneurial activity in the U.S., more Americans
entered self employment last year than at any time in the past 15 years.
The study by the Kauffman Foundation illustrates that the economy and high
unemployment pushed individuals into self-employment, starting sole proprietorships
as a means to earn income. The speculation behind the large proportion of businesses
started was because people could not find employment with others.
Additionally, the study identified the “Top States and Metropolitan Statistical Areas
for Entrepreneurial Growth.”
