CALIFORNIA BUSINESS MINUTE International Trade 02-17-11
Hi, I am Tim Johnson and welcome to the California Business Minute.
The Dept. of Commerce released both December 2010 and year end results of the US International Goods and Services and the balance of trade.
The nation’s international trade deficit in goods and services increased in December with exports of $163.0 billion and imports of $203.5 billion resulting in a deficit of $40.6 billion, up from $38.3 billion in the November revised calculation. December exports were $2.8 billion more than November exports of $160.1 billion. December imports were $5.1 billion more than November imports of $198.5 billion.
California’s total exports were $13.3 billion and total imports were $27 billion in December a trade deficit of $13.7, a reduction in the state trade deficit of $3.7 billion from November.
For the year, California had over $143 billion in exports, second only to Texas with $200 billion. California leads the nation in imports with $327 billion in imports for the year. California also leads the nation in total imports and exports with $470 billion.
